Not Your Cafeteria’s Jello

Remember Jello from your school cafeteria? Hey, I’ll admit I still like the stuff and it’s a cold dessert that’s great during the TX summer.   But it can be a little….boring.

A couple of years ago, I came across a post from Hungry Girl (I LOVE her site!) that turned blah Jello into a dreamsicle flavored, low calorie dessert.  Wiggly, mousse-y, and very good.  Strange name, yes, but really there’s nothing else to call this thing….it’s a Bowl o’ Blob 🙂

You can find her original post here.  I’ve also typed up the recipe below, but can’t take credit for it in any way. So if you want a dessert that’s super low in calories for a BIG serving and tastes like a dreamsicle, give it a try!

Makes 4 big servings

  • 2 boxes sugar-free orange Jello
  • 12 oz can of diet cream soda (or you can use diet Sprite)
  • 1 cup Cool Whip Free (or other fat free whipped topping)

Dissolve Jello into 2 cups boiling water. Whisk in the diet soda.

Chill for about 2 hrs (no longer) until wiggly.

Using a mixer, stir in whipped topping until well mixed. Refrigerate overnight.

I’ve made this a LOT because I like having a big bowl of dessert for very few calories. Yummm!! Hope you like it as much as I do!
